Supporting the Washington Geology Library

WGL Friends

WGL Friends invite you to become a supporter. For years, Washington Geology Library (Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geology and Earth Resources) users have asked for ways to show their support for the library, their belief in its importance to the citizens of Washington, and their conviction of the need for its continued existence. Now there’s a way!  Through WGL Friends, you can make a difference.

The WGL Friends, a non-profit, charitable organization, was founded as a mechanism for tangible expressions of this support.  WGL Friends is incorporated by Washington State and designated a 501(c)(3) non-profit group by the IRS.  Donations are tax deductible.

A Friend can be anyone who believes that excellent library service and a unique library collection are important to maintain and preserve. The Washington Geology Library (begun in 1935) is a special library, concerned with gathering the Best Available Science about Washington State’s geology and geologic hazards. Much of the material cannot be found elsewhere.  Friends can be geoscientists, teachers, local and state government officials, geotechnical consultants, students, builders and developers, rockhounds, historians and film-makers...the same people who use and depend upon the Washington Geology Library now.  Join us!

WGL goals:

  • Maintain an impressive list of supporters as continual proof of Washington Library’s value
  • Raise money to supplement State funds which fluctuate with the economy

WGL Friends will receive a quarterly, electronic newsletter, reporting on meetings, activities, new members, purchases, the wish list, and a suggestion box.
